When: October 10th, 2014
Where: The Conservatory in Acworth, GA
What: Justin & Madi's wedding
Why: they fell in love!
I met Justin in French class at Berry College, and we connected over our mutual love of photography (his impressive vintage camera collection graced the centerpieces at the wedding) Although I didn't meet Madi until after she was engaged to Justin, I knew that she was incredibly talented and creative in quite another way - she runs her own custom cookie business, and turns out some impressive batches of themed cookies. Needless to say, I knew I was going to be working with a very creative couple, and I couldn't have been more excited.
Yet I was still blown away with the amazing attention to detail and uniqueness of this vintage tearoom wedding! From the table centerpieces featuring old books and the aforementioned camera collection, to the shoes that Madi decorated for herself, everything was beautifully designed and perfect for this couple. Madi and Justin are quite fond of Disney's movie "Up," and their wedding was flavored by the movie's themes of true love, adventure, and travel - and of course some balloons! My favorite thing to document at weddings is always the details, so I had a wonderful time working my way around the three-story venue capturing all the pretty details.
Madi and Justin's first look was so incredibly sweet and genuine, and their bridesmaids and groomsmen were so much fun to photograph (check out the fun selfie picture below that my cohort Austin captured!) The ceremony was full of tenderness, reverence, and love, as the couple made their vows surrounded by their family and friends. And their reception was easy going and so much fun - my favorite feature was the coffee bar, courtesy of Swift & Finch coffee from Rome, Georgia (my favorite coffee shop from my college years, and also Madi and Justin's favorite as well!) There was plenty of dancing and laughing and feasting, and the couple ended the night with a beautiful send-off of both bubbles AND sparklers - I loved the combination! They jumped in their retro orange adventure car decorated with a massive bunch of balloons and drove off into their happily ever after, leaving behind many full and joyful hearts.
Sigh. So much goodness. I was blessed to witness such a beautiful marriage. Justin and Madi are one of those couples where the world just feels right because they are finally husband and wife!
I snapped a few polaroids during the portraits for Justin and Madi to have as a fun vintage keepsake - I though they paired well with one of Justin's old cameras.
Finally, I have to give a shout-out to my friend Austin, who helped me shoot this wedding (a few of his amazing photos are featured in this blog). I though the test shot I took of him turned out pretty good, so I had to stick it in here was well.
